Ann Dale SAL

The Azalea Sampler Guild met last Saturday for our monthly stitching gathering. At the December gathering, we had started talking about the Shakespeare's Peddler release of the BIG Ann Dale Sampler. Next thing we knew a SAL was organized, emails were flying and calls were being made to our favorite online needle shops for supplies. Our goal was to have this be a New Years Day start and I think every member accomplished that.

We thought we'd share photos of our progress with our members who couldn't attend and with our bloggy friends who visit us.

Kerrie is our SAL mistress!
She is the queen of BAP's & has a fabulous rotation schedule - who else could lead our SAL for us?
She is sending us a monthly newsletter with fabulous tips and a bit of sampler/motif history along with guiding us to the next section to stitch. Thank you Kerrie!

Melody's Progress
She has changed up several of the thread colors. Her linen is gorgeous!

Carol's Progress
Carol is thinking about changing a color or two herself.
It'll be interesting to see what she does.
Carol is one of our most distant members but attends our gatherings very regularly!

Kris's Progress
Kris's needle is flying. Any tips on that over 1 section Kris?
There's no doubt that Kris will meet her goal of finishing AD this year.

Some Finishes!

I haven't posted here since August so I thought I'd post some of my finishes that weren't on my goal list for 2011. A goal list is just a list and it's ok to be inspired to do other things!

A Knitting Finish

I finished another project that was on my goal list from the beginning of the year!
First Leaf Shawl
Looking over everything that's left on my list, I've made progress on some but at this particular moment, I'm not interested in bringing any of those projects out of hibernation. So, I'm off to find something else.

What is everyone else working on?

Very fun stitch. I have a new start as well - Anniversaries of the Heart. Goodness knows how long that will take but I'm enjoying it too!

Updates!

I finished this the end of February and didn't get a picture until last weekend. This is #9 on my goal list - Prairie Basket for Jo's Little Women Club. The enter is hand appliqued using the back basted method. I'm honestly not sure if hand applique is "my thing" but I'll give it another go at some point.
Prairie Basket
I also did the finishing on Stacy Nash's Schoolgirl Linen Sewing Book. This was about a 8-10 hour finishing process. I couldn't believe it took that long! I can now check off goal #11!

This next project wasn't on my goal list. It was started and finished last weekend. It's small, measuring at approximately 15x18". The quilting didn't take long because it's very light. I didn't want the finished project to be stiff as it's going to be sitting on a table at the holidays.
Lizzy's Little Quilt
I've been able to cross a few things off my goal list. I'm not fooling myself, however, as I know I tacked the easy ones first. I just looked over my list and I can find one that probably isn't going to happen at all. The goal was "progress" and the project is currently in deep freeze. Where it just might stay! Which won't be the end of the world!

Red House In Winter Finish!

Only with Teresa's patience and tutelage this past weekend while we were at the Old Green Cupboard retreat was I able to finish my very first ornament. Thank you so much Teresa! I could never have done this without your help!

Progress to Date

Since the beginning of the year, I've finished a couple of my projects on my 2011 goal list. Except for the Pinkeep Drum, these projects were started in 2010 and were pretty far along and therefore were not the most challenging goals to meet. I'm glad that I have one quilting, one stitching, and one knitting finish for the year!

4. Quakers and Quilts - currently 80% complete Goal: progress
5. Jenny Bean Halloween - currently 50% complete Goal: progress

13. Try to do the finishing on an ornament. Goal: Learn a new skill.

Jackie/Jackie's Stitches

Hello, I'm Jackie of Jackie's Stitches blog. I'm a knitter, quilter and stitcher. I have a job that can be highly stressful and my hobbies keep me sane. I find that I don't have enough time for everything I want to do but most of us probably wish we had more time!

My viewpoint for 2011 is to make progress towards finishing. I'll start some new projects (most yet to be determined) and hopefully finish some projects in 2011.

Here is what I have in mind so far:
1. Grid and Grommet Bag - currently about half done Goal: finish it or ditch it
2. $5 Quilt - currently 50% complete. Lots of applique left. Goal: progress
3. Stitchers Garden Quilt - currently 75% complete Goal: finish the top
4. Quakers and Quilts - currently 80% complete Goal: progress
5. Jenny Bean Halloween - currently 50% complete Goal: progress
6. Knit to Fit Sweater - currently 70% complete Goal: progress
7. Per Terras (a/k/a the Albatross) - currently 80% complete Goal: finish it
8. Scarf for Chris - currently 60% complete Goal: finish it in February
9. Jo Morton's Prairie Basket - currently 50% complete Goal: finish
10. Jo Morton's Log Cabin Table Topper - currently 90% complete Goal: finish this week?
11. Stacy Nash Peacock Pinkeep Drum and Linen School Girl Sewing Book - neither currently started as I'm waiting on my pre-stitching kit. Since I'm taking a class on this my hope is to finish these both in class with Stacy this month. Not sure that is realistic.
12. Scarf for Mom - not started but have yarn and pattern Goal: Progress
13. Try to do the finishing on an ornament. Goal: Learn a new skill

Looking over my list, everything but #1, #6 and #7 were started in 2010. I finished very little in 2010. Hoping 2011 will be full of fun. Finishes are a bonus!
